VOLLEYBALL Program: What to Expect
Our VOLLEYBALL Program provides beginner, intermediate, and advanced training in passing, hitting, serving, rotation, and rules of the game. Kids are grouped by experience level in small groups.
During registration, you'll choose your child's experience level: a beginner level or a more advanced one. Each option includes a brief description of what it covers, so you can confidently choose the right fit for your child's current skills.
Activities and instruction
- Beginner, intermediate, and advanced drills
- Serving, setting, and hitting technique
- Practice matches and game play
- Volleyball-specific conditioning and exercises
- Beach time: boogie boarding and bodysurfing
- Age-appropriate and inclusive beach games
- Ocean safety lessons covering rip tides, currents, waves, and more
Safety
- Coach ratios: kept deliberately low. Every program's ratio is listed in Programs We Offer (CITs and Directors aren't counted in it).
- Certified staff: All coaches are CPR and First Aid certified and background checked.
- Lifeguard proximity: All locations are set up next to a staffed LA County Lifeguard station. Coaches and Lifeguards communicate daily about ocean conditions, and coaches always defer to Lifeguards on safety matters.
- Rashguards: Every participant receives a brightly colored SPF rashguard so they're easily identified by coaches and Lifeguards on the beach and in the water.
- Sunscreen: Reapplication breaks are scheduled multiple times throughout the day. Shade tents are provided on the beach for kids to take a break from sun exposure.
