Water Safety Protocols
Your child's safety in the water is our top priority. Here's how we manage water activities at every beach location.
Before entering the water
Coaches gather participants on the berm to review safety guidelines and demonstrate proper form for boogie boarding and bodysurfing. No child enters the water until all coaches are stationed in their designated positions.
The swim zone
Our coaches form a secure "box" around the swim zone to ensure full coverage:
- Two coaches stationed at each corner in deeper water
- Two coaches stationed at each corner in shallower water
- One coach onshore monitoring conditions, watching for rip currents, and communicating with the team as needed
The remaining coaches are in the water alongside the kids, helping them catch waves, guiding them on boogie boards, and teaching them how to dive under waves.
Additional safety measures
- All beach locations are set up next to a staffed LA County Lifeguard station. Coaches and Lifeguards communicate daily about ocean conditions.
- All coaches are CPR and First Aid certified.
- Participants wear brightly colored BeachSports rashguards so they're easily identifiable in the water.
